Cx210 case electrical and cummins engine problem

HATCHEQUIP ยท 2011-12-25 16:52

CX210 CASE SER#DAC0721292 CUMMINS ENGINE crank up and runs good and revs up to partial rpms on auto mode switch to h mode and revs higher but regadless what mode it act to me like it still is a little boggy and no smoke whatsoever from engine. after running 15-30 seconds it shows electric problem on screen and when this happens you cant hardly move a function without killing the engine. but if you cut the switch off and crank back up and you might have to do it a couple of times the electric problem want come up on screen and you can load a truck but while your waiting on the next truck the electric problem comes back on screen and no no powe. whats been done so far is all fuel lines rubber and steel and fittings and strainers were undone and cleaned and blew out and new fuel filter installed. Undone electrical connections at engine and cleaned and put back together with diaelectric grease allso saw that the supply pump just gave one little squirt of fuel when you turned the key on and that was it just one little squirt and no more untill you turned the key off and then back on and then a squirt done ths several times and allways the same thing.????????? You can hold your finger over pump outlet and cut preasure off. checked power to pump and has power and ground full time when switch is on but only 15.4 volts ????can some one tell me if the pump only pumps like this and how to pull up info on console with onboard diagnostics thanks allot everyone.

I know that this has got the same screen as a 210 linkbelt but the linkbelt has the isuzu engine but the dash should work the same as the case as far as working the screen for codes so does anyone have any suggestions that way .

Greetings Hatch I have a 2005 case 240 long reach that had the exact same problem, start up then go to electrical fault code and engine stall on any function. Had dealer diagnose with laptop and it said bad injector pump, so replaced it but same problem. then computer said bad controller so replaced that, still not acting normal. replaced computer software and oil pressure sylinoids and another injector pump that kept giving fault codes. machine ran so so for 36 hours and now has started blowing the engine oil diptstick out about an inch and belching out oil on the motor so it is building pressure in the crankcase now. no technicians working between xmas and new years so lost another whole week of nice weather. this machine gave me no troubles at all until about 2 months ago and now we are playing the game of replacing this part and that to solve the problem. it is getting very expensive and not much else left to replace. Really need to get the case engineers on board fast to identify the real problem. I was wondering if my machine was the only one with this problem but that same black cloud of bad luck rained on you as well. Will keep you updated on any progress toward solving the problem I can.

G'day - just cruising through the listings and saw yours. I dont know a thing about your machine but if I had build up of crankcase pressure then I would think one of two things. Firstly that blow by is increasing the crankcase pressure - ie you have lost compression on one cylinder or more - that could explain the bad injector call and bad injector pump call by the diagnostics??? Secondly you could have a blown seal in the injector pump - and that has poured diesel fuel into your sump increasing the sump level to where crankcase pressure is way too high and also full of fuel - beware - disaster could occur!!! My only other thought is some valve/circuit for crankcase ventilation has failed??? Hope this helps with some basics, Regards, MX45

does it use the CAPS fuel system? if so i'll bet its the injection control on top of the pump, 800$ part, 2hrs labour to fix.

Yes, have replaced the controller and now the crankcase pressure problem. Checked sump level and it still reads right on full level, motor starts and runs but at idle, every couple of minutes has a small hick up with a puff of blue smoke. after throttle up within a few swings, motor has a hickup, belches a little oil out the dip stick and loses power. Another thought was injector pump out of time, or bad seal. possibly bad injector. Motor has only 2300 hours which is not a lot of time on the cummings engine. Have had a valve cover vent line freeze up on a dozer years ago that blew oil out the diptstick also, cleaned the line and problem solved, doesnt appear to be the case here.

Thanks for the come back Rezod sorry to here about your bad luck. Do you still have the faults coming up on your screen? and just like mx said yours sounds like its washed the walls down on one of the cylinders now and scorred the piston and rings just hope its not got your cylinder scorred because then the block will have to go to the machine shop. Allso do you know how to pull the info for the faults out of your incab console screen as far as what buttons to push and what order. Thanks and Ill keep you informed on what we find out as soon as everyone gets back to work.

This may be a long shot for you but had a similar problem on my cx130 mine was traced to a secondary starter selonoide throwing wild voltage round and machine was shutting down mounted just above starter motor might be worth a test Good luck Sean

Hatchequip, looks like its worse case scenario for my 240. had head removed after compression test showed number 5 cylinder extremely low on compression, found broken ring and scored cylinder wall. going to take it down to bare block, resleeve number 5 and hone the others. seems electrical fault was a bad controller that caused low or no fuel pressure in #5 which produced a over heated piston causing it to flake and the ring to fail. good news is the head and valves are ok, sure glad we shut it down before it went up like a grenade. After replacing the controller and injection pump, we never had any dash codes appear, expect the damage had already began and a few more hours was all it took to fail. Dealer contacted cummings but they refered back to case engineering as case had cummings build the motors to case specs. I had the electrical fault codes for about a year before but they were intermitent, sometimes could run a couple weeks with no issues and then every hour it would return. Case dealer just didnt have the right tech mechanics to isolate the problem. they just wanted to start replacing parts for fun I guess. Found another dealer with qualified tech that narrowed it down just a little to late. Sure hope this helps to find your answer on your machine before it becomes a major issue like this.

Hey HATCHEQUIP you might want to try and just bump the key over and dont start the engine. The supply pump on the right hand side of the engine should run for about 30 or so seconds. If it doesnt its more then likely that the supply pump has burned out. It has kind of been a comman thing for those engines. Also that electrical problem that is coming up on the screen happens when that pump fails.

sonds to me like a ****** pump. enough fuel to prime the filter, but not enough to feed it under load, get a 24V lift pump

What code do you get when you go into diagnostics on dash.

Hate to say it, but these guys are more than likely long gone.
