  11. #11992G2008-11-13 22:46

John H is our BA for this one. Yes the pits are dead, and it is not getting better. It is going to be a LONG WINTER, as you probably know.

Pardon my ignorance but what is up with the D10? It looks like something like maybe the ripper is being serviced, how is that a boo boo? Thanks

  14. #14992G2008-11-14 23:28

    The trans went boom!

  15. #15AtlasRob2008-11-15 16:45

Must admit I decided the ripper had got torn off, looks like something snapped on the lower half of the mountings :beatsme

  16. #16qball2008-11-16 02:25

    blown trans.

  17. #17JDOFMEMI2008-11-16 18:05

Most mechanics around here do it with the ripper assembly still on, just pull the hoses, and the control valve, then pull the trans out. A lot of extra work to pull the ripper, but if work is slow, it is some more job security for them.

The Factory tooling is a frame and nice set of sliding wheels. Couldn't have made it easier if they tried! Only prob. you need the ripper box on to slide it on!

  19. #19992G2008-11-17 22:04

It is a lot of extra work pulling the ripper, but machine is getting moved, and the ripper has to come off to move it.

  20. #20JDOFMEMI2008-11-18 04:40

Wow. I would have a hard time adapting. Out here, we just load and go, full dress. Most we ever have to do is take off the end bits for width reasons.

  21. #21redline2008-11-18 05:50

lol JDOFMEMI i often see D6h/r getting stripped down for haulage, gotta love Qld Transport

  22. #22992G2008-11-18 21:55

Jerry, Moving a D8 is quite a task, not to say a 627 is bigger. That is about all the big stuff around here. The D10 in the picture is one of a hand full that are on permanent sites.

  23. #23AtlasRob2008-11-21 16:03

I take it that is due to weight while moving. In which case what else do you have to remove. Not sure what they do in UK, height would be more a prob than weight as I think it would be classed as indivisible load once the blade was off. I seem to recall that the D10 originally had removable track frames for ease of transport, is that still the case ( sorry C@t )
