D155AX6 OVERHEATING

Sarah Nagallo · 2023-04-24 03:02

Hi guys, Please help me, because I already overhauled my D155AX6, and evrything has been replaced with brand new and original parts however, the unit is still overheating. I do not know what to do, anyone experienced this? Thanks

Has the radiator been re-cored. Is it full of antifreeze. Is the radiator cap holding pressure. How much difference is there from top rad hose to bottom rad hose when it is hot. What has been done for work on the machine. A lot of unknowns to make a diagnosis. Post some info on what was done and maybe someone can start the trouble-shoot. Simon C

The whole engine (head, crankshaft, block) was sent to machine shop to have it resurface and polished. All the overhauling kit (piston, liner, bearing, main bearing et al) was replaced with brand new original. The radiator was not original anymore, i had it fabricated like 2 years ago. But nothing happened like that. The reservoir spill out coolant, the hose got damaged maybe because of to much pressure. The radiator coolant was filled in in its max level. Take note, the newly overhauled engine , based on my observation, the sounds of it compared to before is much better, The temp gauge still rising up above 200 The primary gear suddenly gets lost. Only secondary and the other working.

There is the possibility that you have cumbustion gases leaking into the coolant sytem. It would push antifreeze out into the overflow if that were happening. There is a lot of places that cumbustion gases can get into the cooling system. Check the overflow for bubbles coming into it when it is getting hot. Is that powered by Komatsu S6D140 Series engine with 6 individual heads. Need to put a pressure tester on the radiator and look into cylinder head through the injector hole to see if something is leaking or to see if the pressure is droppimg. If it is dropping where is it going. When you find that out you will be closer to cause of problem. Simon C

Before all the engine work, did it have an over heating problem then? Always confirm the temperature gauge is reporting the correct temperature. And your sure there is no air in the system? So first gear does not work? So the engine is being over loaded? Temp gauge 200 ? Degree's F ? How much over? Prove its the correct temp. Check the radiator core in all the area's for what temps exist. Someone could have left a rag in the system some place. Thermostat checked?

Komatsu down! My goodness. What’s the delta T betwixt water in and water out? Betwixt water in and water mix? Ambient temperature? Are all the shrouds and gingerbread in place? Howz the water pump? How many hours does this beast have? What’s the serial #? Probably a red shop rag plugging up the Werx at the the oil cooler Inlet. That’s my best guess, and guess is all we can do, until someone gets to troubleshooting. I’ve never used betwixt in a sentence before, until now.

Is this model fitted with a torque converter gauge as well ? If it is are they both showing hot . On my two dozers the gauges mirror each other till something is wrong . Usually means the radiator is clogged with dust . Again I don't know about this model but mine the radiator coolant level needs to be at the bottom of the little filter about 40 mm below overflow level , this is important to allow the coolant to expand . This is a newish dozer and it surprises me that the radiator core has been replaced . There could be a combination of several factors driving the overheating . Lose fan belts , blocked radiator fins with dirt and dust . Leaking cylinder head gasket , and heat generated from the detritus from the first gear failure blocking oil cooling system .
