Have D3C Series III Hystat track dozer Serial No. 5XK01268 PIN 6SL00451 that needs wiring harness. Rodents damaged OEM harness causing occasional electrical issues. Anyone know of aftermarket source for a wiring harness for this unit or other source for this harness?

There is no aftermarket source, just pain & heartache and a very long lead time at the parts counter. Sorry for your troubles. I can send you Flick Johnson to assist with the rodent problem. He’s an *******, but he’s hell on the wildlife.

Or you can be like me tear it all out and rebuild it to the best possible degree you can it can take days to do so. Cones down to are you frugal or cheap. There's a point that this is a waste of time....

Try contacting some of the eBay wheeler-dealers in surplus NOS parts. I've seen quite a few NOS Cat wiring harnesses sell at auction locally, but most of our local surplus is mining equipment surplus - think big dump trucks, wheel loaders, and huge excavators. I would have thought someone in the U.S. would be into a replacement wiring harness business. After all, rodents chew harnesses multiple times a day on average across most countries. We have a business here in Australia providing replacement wiring harnesses, but like many, they only target the big $$$ clients, the mining companies. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-CA...8947?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c1#viTabs_0 https://www.wiringharnessesaustrali...sses/oem-alternative/caterpillar-alternative/ The only other way to do it is to cut out the chewed up section, install another set of harness connectors to the good section, and then make up a new section to replace the chewed up section, with connectors to match what you installed on the original harness. New harness connectors are readily available from electrical parts supply places.

Thanks for the info. I have checked ebay and seem to find every harness except for my machine. Yeah, you would think with all the harness that gets damaged there would be aftermarket suppliers.

Thanks for info. Not sure I want to trust my electrical ability to tear it out and rebuild myself. Will be a time consuming rebuild for sure.
