d4c was winching and then transmission would not go into any gear. took pressures p1 p2 good except 2nd gear it was down to 100 psi. always was slow going int 2nd. pulled transmission dissaembled everything looked good could not find out why pressure was low. installed new seals and disc. went through valves. assembled trans and reinstalled. fired up and still no gears. then there was noise like something binding up. pulled and nothing looked out of ordinary. all pressures were done and everything is within specs. all gears good p1 p2 torque converter good and outlet good. also went through clutch valves only thing not normal was someone was into left clutch valve and did not reassemble properly. was wondreing if anyone has had problems with the pressure control valves.
Did you change load piston orfice
yes i did
Didn’t nave a winch failure?
no the winch is working as it should
Couple things puzzle me usually when they lose a gear it is first speed do to rings failing on rotating clutch I don’t remember having much trouble with 2nd gear. The only other thing I can think of is are the speed and direction spools out of adjustment?
spools are both adjustead as specs. 2nd being low was what made me pull trans. figured was a problem when got into it all seals were good when reasembled and tested all clutch pressures were good
What happens if you put it in 3rd and go to full throttle with brakes on? torque make any heat, engine go to stall speed??
3 gear full throttel there is nothing once in a while sounds like gear clashes. no heat in converter. i have it apart right now and cannot find anything that would cause the gear clash noise. high idle no stall. this is what has me scratching my head
I suppose you air checked the packs hard to figure clutches have pressure but don't engage. splines ok in pinion yoke?
Air checked all but 1st gear because of seals that's normal.splines are good.
Did you check bevel gear
Yes not a problem with it
Is it possible the splines are out of the turbine wheel in the torque
Howsabout telling us what has already been done to diagnose problem to save time.
Had it apart everything is good
when it first started i was pulling with the winch. was standing on the brakes pulling hard. went to move and was nothing coming out of the transmission. brought it to the shop and did pressure checks. preassures were good 1st and 3rd. secound gear was down to 100 psi. converter pressure was 165 inlet and 60 outlet. so pulled transmission figuring there was a problem with 2nd disassembled and could not find anything out of the ordinary. valves were all good cleaned them up and reinstalled. pump lookes like new yet. installed transmission and pressure checked all pressures are within specs. still no transmission output. machine only has 1200 hours.
Are you sure the splines are still good in this wheel??
just had it apart and everything is good. the winch works like it should and that is a direct pass through form the converter shaft.
There should be two drive shafts one for winch and one for drive all in gears in back
