I have a late 70’s CATD4E standard shift dozer. Need to adjust the steering clutches. My manual only gives instructions on adjusting the linkage. Is this the only adjustment for both steering clutches. One would think it would be similar to adjusting the brakes.
depending on whats on the back you can adjust them from the rear or the top. Main thing is the release yokes must be loose after you have adjusted them. The clutchs wear over time and you usually have to release the yokes abit because the clutchs are slipping. It 'can' be done from top plates at rear where u adjusted brakes; but you need a skinny 1 1/16 spanner to do so, have done it on mine. But sometimes you need to remove seat and cover under seat and do it from the top. pic my one, is a powershift 51X series
