My cat d5b operates great for 10 or 15 minuets then the brakes start dragging and holding the machine. Any suggestions thanks jim
You've probably got them adjusted too tight. In the back of the machine under the fuel tank there are 2 covers with 3 bolts you take off to get to your brake adjustment bolt. Back them off a few notches.
Thanks I will check the left brake pedal goes down about 1 inch the right pedal goes down 5 inches. I have never adjusted them and didn't know how. Thanks
The cover for the brakes are in the very back, but have five or six bolts on them. They look like a 6" square with a tab on one side. They probably could use adjusting and that would be a good starting spot. After serial number 423 (or somewhere close) they went to a hydraulic park brake that is applied when there is an absence of oil pressure such as when the engine is dead, or the knob is in the up position. They can give problems also with the brakes acting up. The spring that holds the adjuster nut is poorly designed and does not hold the nut very good as well. Two inches of free travel is a good starting point on the pedals.
