King of Obsolete ยท 2009-10-07 13:37

on buddy barry's d5g some one has played around with the wiring and they run a hot wire to the fuel solinode to shut it off. so does this mean there is power to the solinode all the time after the machine is shut off???? i thought it would be the other way around on the solinode, power to operator and when there is no power the fuel solinode is off. thansk KoO Published Author

Cat has been using a power to shut down solenoid for some time should be a timer or it may be part of ignition switch.

The early ones had an inline pump and an energize-to-stop solenoid, controlled by a timer. The later ones had a distributor pump and an energize-to-run solenoid, controlled by an ECM. It sounds like you've got an early one and maybe the timer has failed. The timer updates (gets a new part number) a couple of times, implying that the previous ones were prone to failure.
