D5M tramsmission pump problem

Chisumtrail · 2024-01-26 15:55

Working on D5M 5ES2XX serial number, about a year ago it stopped moving went and checked had no pressure so pulled pump and shaft was broke. Checked screens in transmission and torque converter housing both were clean, thought it might have been starving for oil. Put new pump on and about 100 hours later it broke the shaft again, and screens are clean.

U´re talking about the pump snout, on the pump input shaft? Its obvious, something is not lined up properly... wich is weird , really strange. Was the pump removed, or any work done on the TC housing before 1st shaft broke, is there any evidence pump chew some debris? What type of transmission is in that one?

The arrowed bearing in the bottom of the converter supporting the idler gear that drives the pump..? Find a piece of round bar the same size as the pump shaft, ram it in the hole and give it a good shake - see if you can detect any play.
