i have a cat d5n lgp and the roller frame is leaking hydraulic oil from the front cap, i think it is the track adjustment guide.. it seams to have alot of pressure on it as it keeps popping the heads of grade 8 bolts we put in to tighten. the idlers are wore idk if that would make a difference. have any ideas?

What caps are you talking about? The fill cap? Or the Guild cap's?

    it is the guide caps

The guild is more that likely worn, lift the dozer up in the front and see how much the adjuster rotates clockwise and up and down. then pull the cap and look at guilds. If the adjuster is worn out and there is too much slop it will jolt the caps and brake the bolts, oil leak will be the o Rings on caps. All so make sure the spring isn't busted! Is only one side or both?

Just the one side is breaking bolts but yesterday the other side started to leak. I have noticed that on adjustment cylcinder that it looks like it has been moving back and fourth about have a inch on the side that is really bad. And when I have had the cap off it looks to have a few thou wear but nothing huge. Is that enough to let it twist?

How far is the track adjusted out? That is also the stop to keep adjuster for coming out.

it is out like 4 or 5 inches the just because the idlers are really wore and need to be replaced but i wanna get a idea on what the cap problem before i split the track

If you have the operator manual it says if you have more than 4.130" of the chrome showing on track adjuster do not adjust. The adjuster is out to far, pull the side caps off and see if the stop on the adjuster is hitting cap.

Just measured it. It is our 4 inches but there is no sign of it hitting on the cap
