Checked the oil in my cat D6D oil looked kind of grenish on dip stick not over full bit low has about 50 hours since oil change.Ran it about three hrs. checked it again same color finished the job drained a bit today no antifreeze came out.Drained a bit in a white pail swished it around looks like greenish film on side of pail never noticed it before or just didn't pay attenion oil does look black in the pail any ideas.did have to and antrefreeze tho its always bin that way go forawhile then have to and. I didn't gain oil.
Best get a sample tested right quick, glycol in the basement will eat the bearing material off the rod, main, cam bearings and then no more turnin', just burnin' til it goes bang crunch.... could be head gasket, liner seal, oil cooler core, etc....
I thought antefreeze in oil would be chocalte brown or foaming when running wich it is neither
Enough coolant will turn the oil into a white greaselike goo after a while, but small amounts may not be enough to give you visual confirmation but may still destroy the bearings.
I'll take sampel in today and go from there thanks for the info.
took sample in yesterday they said up to two weeks.so did pressure test today dropped 6 pounds in half an hour but noticed my big filler cap needs seal was dripping some antifreeze so thinking might not be coolant but wait and see.
