How many hours are you all seeing out of Deere 180g main hydraulic pumps? Looking at a used one. Just over 9000 hours. Everything seems healthy at present. Are they the same as the Hitachi variant? Were they a problem?
Know a guy with a 210G with over 12000 hours. It all depends on operator, oil quality and filter changes along with how much over relief in hours a machine is pumping. If it had Hydraulic tank heater that will help also. Simon C
A lot of excavator pumps are damaged when the oil in the reservoir is changed and the air isn't bled out of the supply lines after the tank is refilled. An air pocket is formed between the inlet of the pumps and the reservoir because on most excavators the supply line is lower than the pump inlets and an air pocket will be formed because the oil won't flow into an axial piston pump when it's not turning. The air is bled by removing a plug ( or plugs ) in the top of the pump case or regulators until air stops coming out and oil runs out. Another thing that hurts the pumps is the suction screen in the bottom of the reservoir being removed with oil in the reservoir. When the suction screen is removed with oil in the reservoir any debris the suction screen has on it will fall off and can go into the pumps. The cap ( or whatever is used to hold pressure on the reservoir is another item that can cause pump problems. There should be pressure on the reservoir to prevent cavitation ( sucking air ). Air should be allowed to enter the tank when the oil level is decreasing ( extending cylinders ) and a certain amount of pressure to build when the oil level is increasing ( retracting cylinders ). A lot of expensive repairs can be avoided by knowing these things.
Great info, thanks for posting that.
