we have a case 420ct here at my camp, and were having trouble replacing the track. the previous track had fallen off due to the fact no one had greased the thing in lord knows how long. and we tried to use a come along to pull it on and have 2 people trying to pry it onto the wheels. does anyone know an easier way of doing this because we have been trying for a few days and its extremely frustrating. is there a way to remove the cylinder inside that stops the free standing wheel ? im new to tracks so i have no idea how. it just seems way to hard the way that we are doing it right now.
You should be able to unscrew (16C) the fill grease zert and push that front idler assembly up in the frame quite a ways. Then with a couple bars, come-along and a few guys should be able to get it on in about 5 minutes. If the adjuster assembly won't push way up in frame with this zert out your track adjuster may be froze up. As new as this machine is i can't imagine thats the case. Any way. Hope this helps.
i tried something similar but ill try it again. thanks a million!
