I'm having a problem with hot hubs on the drive axle after doing a brake job and packed the bearings. Yes the bearings are packed not running in oil. How much play should I be adjusting to?
What are you considering as hot? .005 end play.
Wheel ends separate from the diff lube ? New to me.
my f 600 is like that it has a seal so the oil can run out of the tube but not into the bearings. Alot of trucks were built like this and changed later.
150*
On average oil bath drive hubs on semi tractor with GVW of 100,000 operating in 80* weather will run 140 to 160* on the high end.
Seen them as well over the years, the old Eatons' were really consistent with the axle flange gasket also being the outer oil seal with a machined smooth stub for the seal to ride on. Converted many to oil bath as either will work.
