And these guys wonder why us Excavator operators call them "Boneheads" !!:Banghead :Banghead Bless them they are never the brightest bulbs in the box!!:lmao :lmao :lmao :roll :roll :roll
And yet more "Brain Surgeons" in action!!!
Forgot to add these two shots of a Barford SK10 ten ton forward tippig dumper which went over on our site a couple of weeks a go, the driver missed the ramp with the front left hand wheel and over she went !!! He was a lucky guy...only requiring a clean pair of underpants!!!:lmao :lmao
In the driver's defense, those trucks were designed to roll over well half of it anyway notice the nice hinge in the middle. Just remember to roll only the rear half :drinkup Cool pics Nick
got to remember those trucks will roll if you look at it wrong:cool2 ,but some of those pics left me asking why did he dump the truck on an angle like that.
hahahahah rolled rock trucks!! so much fun with those! Half of the guys who run rock truck are greenhorns. Gotta start somewhere!! I did! But yeah some of them just don't have it. Rolling the cab is pretty dumb... He probably wasn't straight in the first place. One of our guys rolled a TA30 a few weeks back. We sold it now, but not because of that. It's a piece of **** in the first place. Some pics of that:
Great pics Trax!!! I love **** up pics !!! Got any more, you know machines bogged, rolled, on fire, etc etc I have over 900 pics off the web and taken by myself. Regards Nick
Very good pictures. Here in Norway the big firms got the same problem that is on display here. It costs much on repairs, and you get a production stopp, both on the ADT and the excavator to turn it around. They had an easy solution to those problems: Now they only employ older drivers that has a lot of hours in the ADT or in trucks. And then paying them extra to keep them on the job.(and a firm car, Hi-lux is popular) The ADT was earlier a learningmachine for the yungsters. Nearly all the big firms has ended that! If you see an ADT driver today,he is always 30+. Regarding firm cars, when you by a new machine; you by a new car. A big firm got ap 130 machines, and 120 firm cars and 10 service cars. One car for each machine.
Rolling them is part of the fun, but I have never seen one roll the cab too and how did that one just roll the cab?
:lmao :lmao Hey Dozerboy, I know and have worked with those truck drivers on the Luke Furse company, The problem is they are all what we in the UK call "Boy Racers" they have to drive around like luanatics....Basically they just have never grown up!!! They simply don't think about what they are doing!! One chap that I once worked for had a good phrase about Dumptruck drivers it was...." Put a good man on a dumptruck & within a week he will be a dumbf***" :lmao :lmao :woohoo :woohoo Never a truer word spoken!!
Well dozerboy, here is the recept: If you stop on a ege and put you back wheels out in the air, swing your front, and start tipping. Weight will move backwards with the raised dumpbody, and the front will lift from the ground. Swinged front will imediately tipp over on the side. This is also possible if you are tipping in a slope head highest and the masses stucks in the body. Front can lift from the ground and you got trouble. Only a slightest swing on the front will make you go over. Another way is to drive fast down a slope, turn tight and then brake, weight will then make your front tipp over. This is a nasty one because u can turn more than on the side. Don't try this at home guys, should only be done by professional stuntmen:woohoo
Nice pics. I have this one to offer. Ross
Hey Ross welcome to the forums:drinkup :drinkup And a nice picture too. I bet he got on the edge of the road and the shoulder collapsed. Not unusual....
Thanks for the welcome. :drinkup Dont know how he managed to tip the truck. Just lost control on a Good dry haul road. (Going to hard around site if the truth be known!) Yeah them old Terex ADT's. When material gets stuck in the Tail-gates (were app) The Tractor end would lift and turn the cab 180 degrees. :dizzy Pic of the truck Un-Flipping :thumbsup Ross
This one is not a flip but just a bog in!! This was on a site I was working on in Cambridge a year or so ago. Poor guy this was his first day fulltime on the trucks and indeed his first load !! A quick lesson learnt!!:lmao :lmao
old ones heres some from my dads collection of photos ,these old swan necks flipped over easily
more two more the D4D is my dads
Great old Photos D4C, And a Priestman Mustang 120 as a bonus!!! Was that owned by Claude Fentons ? the Decal looks like theirs???
claude fenton yes nick my dad worked for them ,for about 43 years until he retired i remember going to work with him on a large sewer job and they had a 220 ( i think) they used preistmans until the end ,the last were painted a lovely green colour:throwup
Fantastic!! Keep them old photos coming!! I think that machine (The lovely green one!!) is one of the last series of Priestmans the 200 series possibly a 215 or 218?? Great Pics D4C I just love old work pics!!!:notworthy
My first time on a truck, and I ended up in pretty much the same boat, although I wasn't stuck quite that bad. There are pictures floating around somewhere of me being pushed out by an excavator (since trying to pull it out with a wheel loader didn't work), but I don't have them... Moral of the story is don't set off across the lowest point on the site, where the sod and topsoil haven't been stripped after three days of heavy rain without knowing where the diff-lock switches are and whether they're set or not. Oh yea, and whatever you do...DON'T STOP...you'll never get started again. Joe
Very nice pics
Here's a Terex TA25 in a bit of trouble!!!
Artic Cab rollovers The main cause for Artic cab rollovers is that when dumping in certain situations the cab will lift off the ground. As soon as the cab looses contact with the ground the engine torque transmits into the cab and twist it over onto its side. It will happen everytime......guaranteed! Sincerely, Dirt
IN the drivers defense, sometimes the body will just go over. For instance, if you're building a stockpile and just get too close to a soft edge. I ran an A30 all summer and most of last fall and had no problems, got on one for two weeks this spring on a short job and on the last two days of the job almost flipped the body twice on the stockpile we were building:beatsme :Banghead As far as the cab, especially on those new volvo's if you dump with the cab turned at all it makes the front really unstable when the load slides out of the bed and it will lift the front as most of you have said, then its just a matter of which way it will go. Thankfully I've not done that
Here's one for ya
Moxy from Norway .............
Espen, Welcome to HEF. It seems the Moxy doesn't swim too good. Espen Velkommen å HEF Kan ikke Moxy svømme fint
around here we use terex's as boat anchors.
Cool pic!:thumbsup Do you know the story behind it?
here are a few more for ya
Good find! Those last two look like they could have hurt. The rock in the container must have been on rollers or something.
Looks like a lack of focus on someone.
I have a terex TA30 and my son kept asking me questions about how they roll and what not. He called me one saturday to come help him roll it back over. I felt like strangling him for that. But i remember doing stuff my father told me not to do and then getting in deep water for it.
i bet the guy in the first pics had quite the story of his ride down the mountain into the lake....and hopefully still does...
Hi from Australia. What do you get when a truck stops part way up a ramp, the "operator" lets it run back down, and then hits the brakes?
Welcome to Heavy Equipment Forums QSK60! :drinkup Nice first post opcorn. There's easier ways to dump the rock out of the bed ya know.......like using the "Dump Lever". It actually works pretty good. That's some pretty big equipment yall got there. You got anymore pictures of that 996? Here's some pictures of the equipment at our operation: CB's Fancy Smancy Photo Gallery
Nice looking load of rocks there.
Heres a couple i have too add...
I've never seen a truck with 4 drop axles before.
Those trucks are all over the place in Ohio. Their a real pain in the rear. They dont turn worth a darn. They drag those lifts through some real rough stuff when their off road. They also dont haul much. If I remember correctly you cant get much more than 25 tons on these trucks. A huge difference from Michigan where you can run your truck at 164,000 lbs.
wow wow it looks like those operators are having a super bad day!!
Whats up DUDER!!??
Welcome to Heavy Equipment Forums bolt thrower! :drinkup
is that you derek?
I'd like to know how the driver flipped the cab without flipping the box. that takes skills.
Hey Hawk-con. Check post #11. I explained it there, it has to do with last axle outside the filling and tipping.
ta 30,s are for sure junk you should have buried it
been there, done that
that poor old county super 6 on that shaune poole dump trailer! what cab is on that, doesnt look like a duncan?
heres a pic from OZ, up in townsville, queensland. I was on a working holiday visa in 07, i watched this happen during 'smoko' -bait time to me, or break for everyone else! the driver simply turned too fast on a bank, boss man just pulled into the job just as the dust settled, perfect timing!! (black landcruiser withpickup body) Its an old d series 25t cat
just found this pic of a our thwaites 6 t site dumper on balancing point! saved by our 8080 zts jcb!
Anybody tell these guys that the dirt was supposed to come out the back of the truck? Maybe they thought they was drivin side dumps!!
this just recently happend in ct
I have seen pics like that before that has got to be a hell of a ride.
more pics
Cat 3512 engines Looking for information on 3512 engine maintenance. Chronic problems in the top end or other. Thanks. Cam
Are we sure these are flipped dumps or are they prototypes of the new side dump design.:beatsme
Always nice to see someone else has bad days too LOL
was he goin' down the hi-way with the bed up ....what a piece of work:beatsme
ive been running a cat 725 never rolled one yet, althogh every driver we hired has its comical, they dont pay attention almost always on the bottom of a ramp
are you kidding me??:Banghead
3512 Nope. New guy question I guess, but still looking for answers. Cam
Now that you have over 3 posts, you are allowed to start a new thread. Probably you will have more luck this way.
Thank you! Cam
i dont mean to interrupt the new thread... but it looks like rock trucks have a love for playing roll over! manufacturers should work on getting the canine gene out of these trucks for gods sake.
yeah they're just playing possum
Yeah, you should hear what us "bonehead" dump operators call the idiots running the hoes... I've been running a Terex TA27, Generation 7 for the last few weeks. Our hoe operator is 74 years old, and sometimes doesn't give any thought into how he wants us positioned to load, and how or what we must drive/back over. I've about lost my last nerve when he has me back beside the area where he as been cutting, only a 4ft drop, but enough to roll the truck. Wouldn't be so bad if there was more than 3ft between my tires and the edge. This because he doesn't want the dust to blow at him, while we get a cab full. I've ran hoes too, and since I've ran ADTs, I try to make sure I don't put the drivers in any risky positions.
It does not have to be end dumps to have not very smart operators. In the mid 60's we were running 660 belly dumps filling from conveyor system building a tailings dam for a copper mine in So Az it was a 3 shift operation. The midnight shift had all kinds of strange things happen one night a 660 tractor pulled under the conveyor to load and couldn't stop. He had lost his trailer and had no air for the brakes then tried to turn off the haul and ran over 5 out houses.
Now that's what they make movies out of..:laugh
Nice pics. Hope non of our dumpers do any rolls ,,...
A couple of my photo's of site mishaps
i saw a vid on youtube where the cab on a volvo broke free and spun 270 degrees. bet he had to pull the seat out of his crack.
you think thats scary try sittin in a dozer on the dump and seening a 250 ton dump come flat out back at u with a foot to separation at best many a time i gave serious concideration to going over the side
This problem is not encountered with cat 735's & 740's although they are almost the same design, but dumping sytems frame is far rigid and firm compare to these, i have lot of pictures of this kind..bye
major stuck ups! we are moving almost 300 million cubic metere of sand, its huge & we have huge stuck ups , I like machines getting smashed like toys, then i rescue... Actually I dont know how to post pics on this forum, i can send amazing pics of 735 / 740/ challangers etc etc..
You think that's scary, try it with 400 ton trucks when they are coming right for you. I've gone over the edge to escape.
Here are some pictures of an International 4300 from when my grandpa first started out. It had an end dump trailer on it full of concrete chunks. It hit a car and the trailer turned over.
trucks flipover good one!
Man, that's ugly.....
God guns & drones made america.. American people are better then america..
In defence of "Bone heads" everyone had to start somewhere, we have some excellent truckies and some not so good, truckies with promise that are keen to work get oppurtunities on other gear, same as our Digger/loader/shovel ops, they get put on trucks every now and then to bring them back to earth.
