does any one know when I turn off the key and go to restart it the transmission is not disengaging it turns over and tries to start but don't stay running please help

Could it be a stop solenoid for fuel that is not getting power. When you say transmission is not disengaging do you mean the machine is trying to move? That would indicate a neutral safety switch is not working.
If the transmission is putting a load or strain on the engine while you are trying to start it, check the transmission shifting linkage (or cable if it has one) and determine if it is actually in neutral. Can you explain the not stay running situation a little better ? Will the engine speed go above idle speed or does it stop running because of the transmission load on it.
