Ec160dl slow thumb and shear

drive48 ยท 2023-11-10 13:06

Hey all. So I have a ec160dl out here and the shear control/ thumb is acting up. Pedal or joystick make no difference. Can hear valve block in center of belly buzzing or vibrating like it's fighting spring psi. Fluid level is spit on as well as new hyd filters. All other functions on the machine work Including shear rotation. We verified no restriction from pump to shear on off thumb valves. Just need some direction...

Good day Do you have the X1 selected for two way operation, hammer is only one direction.

First thing I would do is check the ball valves at the end of the stick. Next, how are you plumbed in? Straight JIC or ORFS? Or do you have quick couplers? If couplers, verify that they are 100% locked into one another. Good luck

Thank you. So it is correct selection. We started up this am and wouldn't operate. Then it started but was slow.

Thank you. So we do have quick screw couplers. I did remove all and hard connect to eliminate adapter issues. I did verify valves were opened in correct position. We did switch and verify thumb, being its on same circuit and seems x1 is an issue. Haven't changed anything the entire time we have been running the job. Just started acting up Friday. Electronic joystick and foot pedal do not change outcome.

So the next step is to look at X1 flow control solenoid. You have hammer shear select option? In the instrument panel, you can adjust flow to a theoretical value based on no load. Please observe the hoses on the hinge from boom to arm. See how they react when the valves are open vs closed. Also observe the pressure rise and fall. See if they're similar.

Additionally, was your pressure and flow adjusted to the desired attachment with a flowmeter? Do you have the bi-directional divert valve at the foot of the boom? Do your pumps return to standby when sticks and pedal are neutral.
