I have two Volvo EC460B machines. A 2004 and also a 2007. The older machine has an engine model # D12CEAE2 and the other is a D12DEAE3. Can anyone tell me what is different between those? Im actually doing an overhaul on the 07's engine due to an issue with the accessory drive gear and a cylinder liner leaking coolant. I did a bunch of looking for a complete drop in used engine... but only found a couple of the D12CEAE2 models out there. Any info would be much appreciated, or if you could point me in the direction of someone who would know. Thanks!!
D12C had simple rocker arms and valves, D12D had double rocker exhaust valves which were a step towards emissions compliance. That was the internal EGR. That and 6 kw of energy. Blocks are compatible. Heads are compatible. peripherals get tricky. You can go from a C to a D legally , but not the other way. DOuble rockers are prone to failure if not maintained.
Got some pics of my engine torn apart. Cylinders #1 and #6 have scoring marks. #1 is definitely the worst. Thoughts on what might be the cause? This machine has right about 7000 hours on the clock. Also any idea what these two "bushings" might be from? Thanks
Bushings look like stick bushings. ID of 90mm would probably confirm that. Looks like broken rings caused scoring. Could have been overheat that contributed.
I was kinda thinking the same with possible overheat at some point. Those bushings are smaller than 90mm...
That's dinky, I don't have a clue.
