i had a bit of frozen mud around the sproket so i raised that track and started to spin it , it had a bit of a hard time but semmed to free itself up. after moving the machine i noticed that the drive had gear oil leaking from the back of the sprocket. i checked the oil and it's definitely gear oil and not hydraulic fluid from the diagram for the drive motor it seems like it's a oring sealing the drive to the motor. is that all there is sealing the gear oil in. odd that the oring would go with no pressure in there. is there something that i'm missing ? thanks
Can't say for sure about your EX60, but most excavators use floating seals to seal the planetary drive hub. Could be the seal worn out, or, could be the frozen dirt has seperated the seal enough to allow leakage. If you get all the dirt out from behind sprocket, it might quit leaking. If not, probably needs new seal.
