I have an old John deere 70d with a ton of hard hours on it. It has plenty of issues that we just deal with since it is just a farm machine. Now it is starting to grind and sounds like metal on metal when swinging right or left and sometimes sticks. Does this sound like a bearing,gear or swing motor issue. Where do I need to start? Thanks
Sounds like you need to inspect the problem now!!!! before it breaks something you can't replace Check the swing motor gearbox for being loose, also check the big ring gear.. there should be an access plate you can pull to see some of the gear.
Had a big hoe with same problem,used one of these to find it . Works well.
Good day Suggest you check for lubrication defects first, take a look at the transmission lube for witness metal attached is a document that may help. Kind regards Uffex
