Anybody have any opinions on fae’s new remote control forestry mulcher? Do you think it’s a good start to get into the industry?
It would depend on your area and terrain etc. The people who have purchased the remote control mulchers (various brands) around here have usually added the mulcher to an existing tractors mowing vacant lots, lawn mowing, tree care/ stump grinding, and landscaping business. etc They still have a cash flow when the remote mulcher is parked in the shed, getting serviced etc. Parts of the lots or lawns were too steep/ overgrown (or very narrow access) for the tractor or conventional ride-on lawn mower. Rather than use people with stihl clearing saws etc (worker enthusiasm, saw abuse and labor cost issues) or expensive Menzi Muck walking excavators etc they went to the remote mulcher. Remember to have some preworked out means of un-sticking (if stuck) or up-righting (if turned over) the RC mulcher
Thank you for reaching out. I have been contemplating a midi with a mulching head as it isn’t a popular business here. After stumbling upon the slope mulchers it kind of caught my attention as i could haul it with my trailer and half ton tundra. No need for a gooseneck and heavy truck after the initial midi purchase or a commercial drivers license. I can see it doing everything a skid steer could do. Maybe a little slower but still possible. I know nothing is ever as good or as easy as it seems. I can honestly see this machine out in some difficult place or hill side broken down with no way to retrieve it or like you said stuck or flipped.
