Hi guys, We have been buying Hitachi EX120-1,-2 and -3 excavators over the past few years for reconditioning and reselling and recently we've been offered a Fiat Hitachi 120-1. The guys swears that the machine is exactly the same as a Hitachi 120-1 except the engine is Iveco. I can't find any spec info online and was wondering if anyone in this forum know what the real differences are. Also isn't there some collaboration between Iveco and Cummins, if so i was hoping that the engine parts would be compatible as the Cummins parts are quite cheap. Cheers
Fiat joined forceswith hitachi in 1986 tobuild machines until 2002 when the partner ship broke and fiat j po ined kobelco then to be the now newholland (scrap), however fiat hitachi was a very reliable machine only difference was the iveco engine and the long dipper arm and wide pads on 12 _ 13 ton machines as standard, then the ex machines (now zaxis) were classed as a grey import to europe, until the zaxis market took off with hm plant ariund 2002 2003 ,before this exmachines were sold trough private dealers or small non dealership importers, all parts are interchangable apart from the engines, how ever they do carry the same fuel filters, or they should, the fiat hasa lower market and resale value but for an end user carry great value and reliability dor money, the mark 1 & 5 were probably the best digger hitachi ever put their name to, if its a hitachi ex120_1 its qorth 11500 sterling clean, and 6_10k rough depending on condition, as for a fiat hitachi 120_1 fh its worth 8500 sterling clean and between 4 _6k rough depending on condition, dash 2 _3 are making 9_10k euro here in ireland and dash 5 12/ us qorth 15000 plus vat for a good clean one. Hope that helps, After the dash1 fiat hitachi introduced the fh130_2 instead of the 120 then in 1994_ 1997 they had a 130_3 and 98_2002 ex135 all good reliable machines well able for 20000 plus hours they were ran on a 43 link chain as oppose to a 44 on the ex hitachis this changed in 1998with the ex135 which ended up on a 44 link d4 berco chain and 28inch pads as standard, the fh120_1 turns off in the trottle
