hello, first post here, i have a 2011 cat 259b3, that i use for general landscape work. i have a pretty well rounded mechanical history (truck mechanic 3 years, industrial boiler chiller mechanic 10 years, always had old equipment that required much work (case 1845b, bobcat 642b, farm equipment etc). my question here is, i was working with the machine when i noticed a “pop” sound, immediately shut the machine down. i found that this rear bearing AND cap have snapped in two, is this identified as a rear axle bearing?? i havent been able to find any diagrams online and its saturday so ill impatiently try to research parts until the cat dealer opens on monday but havent had much luck. if anyone can help identify this bearing and or part numbers it would be greatly appreciated , i attached a picture as well (it is only showing one picture uploaded, the bearing sits right behind the sprocket of the final drive)
also to add, i bought the machine 3 months ago and had kept up with all greasings but i feel this bearing was neglected (it didnt take grease easily at first)
need serial number there are two different part numbers for that bearing
thanks mark! that was quick, the serial for the machine is CAT0259BKYYZ00325
thank you, is there a part number for the retaining plate? its the round cap that the two bolts go through
thanks again for all of your help
No problem glad to help some of these items are on amazon and other places besides Cat search the part numbers Mark
Is the rear axle bearing the same part number for the right hand side as well?? New here just joinded today, have same problem on right hand side, my cat dealer is useless out this way, best information i have found soo far,
It should be. Post a Serial Number so that someone can check.
Sorry I did get back sooner, serial # is FTL14669, i got the new 9m-1328 from my local dealer, was a heck of a time getting the bearing fitted in the undercarriage. ive in stalled a new rh side rear axle assembly, now i cant get the undercarriage to slid on the new rear axle, i checked the bearing fitment on the axle shaft before i installed it in the undercarriage it was good it slid right on, Help please....
By the sounds of it you may have crushed the bearing slightly when you installed it in the track frame if you had to beat it into place. Did you buff the track frame bore with a flap wheel before you installed it.?
