Response to Scorpio: I have a 1977 Ford 550 TLB. On the level it works fine, but when going uphill about 15 to 20 degree incline it shifts out of gear. If I continue to try going uphill it goes in and out of gear every few seconds. The only way to go uphill is in reverse, and even that doesn't work if the incline is over 20 degrees. Trans filter is changed, proper oil level, engine nicely warmed up. Suggestions? Do you have a mechanical or hydraulic shuttle. Is your 4spd gear box behind the shuttle jumping out of gear going uphill or is the shuttle failing.
