ford 555 back hoe power steering column motor leak question

rockwind1 · 2022-04-04 19:19

i am putting a seal kit in this unit since it is leaking super bad,, mostly from the steering column so i assume it is that top seal just below the splines,,, i've watched a few video's and read a good thread on here about it, my question is, does the colunm motor in the 555 (not A-D) just 555, does that motor need to be timed? and if so,, if i am going to replace the seals,, how do i make sure i don't need to time it while replacing the seals, i was thinking of just doing the top seal and the #38 one which seems to be the popular culprit. thanks

If it’s like most standard orbitrols it would only need to be timed if you took the bottom section apart where the gerotor is. A picture would help.
