My neighbor's 1985 Ford 655a backhoe that's been sitting for sometime needs some help to come back to life. Please check out the video and give any insights you may have in helping solve this problem. Greatly appreciate those who are willing to lend a helping hand. Thank you everyone and the mods here at heavy equipment forums. 1985_Ford_655a_backhoe.mp4 drive.google.com
Just because you pump the hand primer on the supply pump, doesn’t mean it’s working properly.. Loosen the inlet line going into the back of the pump and crank the engine.. you should be getting a large pulse of fuel from the loosened line.. If not, the supply pump isn’t working.. If it is pulsing, go ahead and tighten the line.. Do u know about the cold start button.?? It’s in the middle of the shut off rod..& has a black rubber bellows around it.. Pull the throttle off of low idle and push in on the “button”.. you should hear a click if it’s working properly.. Try to start the engine.. Do you know that the pump is oil lubricated.?? YOU HAVE TO ADD OIL.. the same kind the engine uses.. You fill it thru the big nut on top of the pump housing.. 15/16 wrench.. The FULL plug is on the SIDE of the pump.. 1/2 wrench.. The DRAIN screw is on the bottom.. 1/2 wrench. Do these checks and get back to us.. there’s more checks to do. Good luck
