My 1989 655A is blowing heated vaporized coolant from the blow by tube. I go thru a gallon of anti-freeze every hour or so. Any hints on resolving this issue??
To get coolant down into crankcase, heat it up enough to vaporize it, has to be in hot oil. That being said, the oil runs hotter than coolant and will vapourize the coolant. Need to pressurize the radiator with the oil pan off to see where it is leaking down into the pan. Don't just throw money at it. Do not tear motor apart until you see the bottom side of block with pressure on it. Simon C
Are you referring to the tube on the radiator ? usally a leaking head gasket or cracked head is the problem. What is coolant temperature when it is blowing?
On fords it is SUPER common for the cylinders to be pitted very badly, eventually resulting in coolant in the crankcase in large quantity. Ours started out years ago with steam/vapor in the blowby. Then milky oil. That was back in my more optimistic years, so I tore it down and did a head/headgasket. Fired it up and it put all the coolant back in the pan in about 5-10 minutes. Good blocks are tough to find.
