ford 655c shuttle shift blowing fuse

didioca ยท 2013-05-27 19:40

my backhoe will blow the shuttle shift fuse intermittent ran for 8 hours today no problem. Day before blew 6 fuses in a 3 hour period, problem seems to happen when hoe is on a steep grade. Has anyone had to replace the solenoid on their ford. Is it a job that can be done in my shop or does it require special tools? And how expensive is the repair if done by ford /new haven shop. thanks for any help Casey

Steep grade isn't something a solenoid would react to. That's more of a wiring harness thang. I'd be tugging and pulling on the harness between the solenoid and the steering column. Or if you don't want to replace a bunch of fuses, eyeball the harness where ever it rubs against something.

blowing shuttle fuse I have went through the wires under the steering area and under the floor still need to get to the fuse block area (hard to acess), to get to the solenoid area will have to pull fuel tank. thanks for your thoughts Casey
