Hey all I picked up an old 503 that had been sitting for 10+ years and it moved easy getting it loaded then after two days on the trailer it wouldn’t budge, transmission was froze solid from water in the oil. I thawed it all out and drained it but not sure what is the correct fluid to put back in. Any help is much appreciated! Also the serial tag reads 503-GIxxxxx does that mean it’s a 503g or just regular 503? Quite new to Galion stuff thanks again!
80-90 with a splash of Lucas in it is what you need. There are numerous posts about 503’s here that you can use the search function for that have tons of information you can use. A round nose is a G, a square nose with a 4 speed and 1 reverse is an A, a square nose with a reverser is a L.
Much appreciated!!! Thank you!
The operators manual says to use GL-1 gear oil because there is copper and or brass in the transmission. GL-5 will destroy the transmission because of the additive in GL-5. FWD
