are there any smaller gas drive welder guru`s on that are familiar with hobart titan machines previous to them being bought out around 99-2000 by miller? i have a titan 7000 kohler powered that has been a good little machine but just recently lost my idle control. the part # is 493400 a search turned up zero so i`m hoping to find something that will work in its place. all idea`s considered
On another site, it was suggested a Miller 165 810 solenoid might work. The idle solenoid that was used on your unit takes more current to activate than the newer Miller module can provide. Make sure that the plunger on the solenoid is "bottoming out" when it is activated. You may need to either change the solenoid or add a small helper spring to the linkage to help the solenoid pull in if it still does not want to stay. The Miller solenoid used primarily with that timer is part# 165810. This solenoid has a lighter pull rating and draws less amperage than the original Hobart solenoid and again you may need to add a spring.
my solenoid seems to work fine if i power it with a jumper its the timer box that does`nt work. that thing has a bunch of wires 4-6 hooked to it i`ll look that miller # up and see what it looks like
