Hi there, i have a 2013 Genie GS1930 serial number GS3013A- 119666 which just last week suffered some problem on the GCOM, the push buttons do not operate the lift/lower function if you switch to PCOM everything is working perfectly. i just got hold of some information from Genie and there is a statement to update and re-install the software using the Bootloder Mode .. I'm using an Apple Mac which does not have the Cat 5 / Ethernet plug, so this might be another issue. is there any other reason why the GCON would not function apart from a software issue ???
This should be the manual for your machine: ( http://manuals.gogenielift.com/Parts And Service Manuals/data/Service/Scissors/1272217.pdf ) in there you can get the procedure for connecting the ethernet cable from the GCON to a wireless router and communicating with your laptop via the IP address. So when the key is switched to GCON, the controller is powering up with no codes, but the raise and lower buttons are not operating? No alarms or sounds from relays or solenoids? How clean is the machine and the electrical connections? It always seemed like half of these I worked on were layered with sheetrock mud with dust in every possible place. There should be a connector pin list in the manual if you wanted to back probe and see if it's sending the signal from the GCON.
Well thanks for the response, i finally got back to the machine today, and we uploaded the software and still .......nada..... GCON did its thing no codes no noise , so i pulled the ECU " Those plugs are tough on the fingers" and swaped it over with another machine .... everthing is working fine .... so we have narrowed it down to the ECU, i was prepared to shell our some serious wonga on a new ECU !!! luckily I got to talking with a ex Terex guy and he made a very casual remark about the front cover Membrain Decal and the Power Enable switch not working.. so i pulled the 4 torx screws and lifted the ribbon and swapped it over with the other ECU .... well we all know the result, so now i got a new Decal with the embeded buttons on the way and life should be back to normal ... and yes it was covered in every type of building material when i got the machine which is expected from an ex hire machine ......
