Having issues with my old Lorain RT 230 rough terrain Craine, and its outriggers.

Outriggers working slow or not at all, sometimes expand and contract other times it won't do either. Thee riggers started doing this about a week ago but will still puck up just very slow, one riggers won't go up or down at all. Any ideas on where to start. Thinking about changing filter or electrical solenoid switches. Thanks and any help is appreciated. Mike

Old reliable 230 Lorain. I love those cranes. Do yourself a favor and replace all the outrigger switches first then clean the collector ring with deoxit contact cleaner.

90 percent of the time on the 230 Lorain it’s caused by worn out switch contacts or dirty collector ring. No need to go hunting for solenoids and filters, until you get the upper works cleaned up. Also don’t forget to inspect the upper and lower collector ring harness plugs. Sometimes ya find corrosion there causing problems. Hope it helps

Hello, I have the same machine and am having similar problems. Where is the collector ring for this machine

On top of the hydraulic swivel, in the turntable.

Thank you, that’s what I thought. Always just heard it referred to as a swivel.

Where the spring loaded contacts meet the flat copper bands , it will get white/grey corrosion, and not make good connections
