Owner's grandfather owned or built this but it was shut down 30 years ago. D337 with iron lung for power. 6 cylinder air compressor in the rafters, enormous. Giant air motor to run drag chain. 50-some inch main saw and top saw. Carriage racks appear to be mine car rails. Office built where carriage would go for offbearing. Edger also. Anybody know what any of this is? He might like to get rid of it. If it is even practical. Says it was all working when he switched to logging 30 years ago. He runs a wood mizer now.
It's neat. He should contact Hull-Oakes mill as they specialize in large specialty logs.
Ummm...... Wow. I don't know anything about that mill except that's not something that you can fire up on the weekend to knock out a few boards. Unfortunately without the automated, computer controlled "find the profit" lasers and such it's not going to be able to run every day to keep Uncle Sam from OSHA'ing you into poverty. I hope you can save it, maybe if it comes as a deal with the land and you can get it rebuilt and find someone who wants a truckload of Cants on a regular basis.
