need to know where to begin to fix this lift. it will start,the idle will surge up 4 to 5 times and the machine will shut off. it will continue to start after shutting off, only to do the surge and shutoff again. the engine also will not respond to acceleration. it hs the digital accelerator.(ECM??) fuel filters have all been changed. any advice is greatly appreciated.
We (Aero Lift, Inc) own many (50) 04's & 05's SkyTraks and have had to send over a dozen fuel injection pumps to be rebuilt. If you have the electronic throttle, you are working on an 8042 or a 10042/54. Those have an electronic controlled injection pump. You can remove it and have it checked by the service center. It's a $2000 rebuild. Call my son Steve @ 734-516-5675 and he can advise you. Good Luck.
i was also told to check the ECM, is that associated with the injection pump? iknew it wouldn't be a cheap fix
The easiest way to check the trottle control is to unplug it and plug in another one. That, of course, requires a second, functional, pedal. But it requires little effort and rules out the pedal as the problem quickly. We have not replaced many pedals. I still suspect the Injection pump.
Have you replaced the fuel transfer pump? It is a $50 repair and should be done before yanking the fuel injection pump and sending it to the rebuilders! Replace it and the filters and bleed the system and rule the cheap things out first.
