do they have anything to do with Cat? There are certain things that make them look similar

not sure! yes, i can definitely see how it looks similar to a cat, maybe cat and volvo worked together on it. looks like volvo did a nice job on their new machine, right guys? and coming up with that new one arm design, such cutting edge ideas!

That is nice how you can zip in and out of the cab through the side.

It sure looks like Volvo and that other European company, JCB have somethin' goin' on

How can you say they look similar to a Cat skidsteer, the Volvo has one arm and side entry to the cab, the Cat has two arms and front entry to the cab. However, if you were to compare them to the JCB skidtseer, I would say there might be a connection. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7_qpXtuTmo RnR.

From a mechanics point of view, the loader arm looks like it will cause problems. There is a huge torsional load on the single offset arm that is not there on a double arm. Hopefully it works with no problems. Looks like a nice machine otherwise.

The JCB and Volvo sure look like twins to me!

Other than the paint and decals, they are identical machines. Volvo and JCB signed an agreement to brand JCB's skids and CTLs.

Volvo sold more machines with the Scat Trak copy than JCB did with the one armed bandit. I think this will stay the same given the fact that Volvo has a stronger dealer network in North America. I think JCB will sell more than the approximately 200 skid steers they sold in 2010, but I don't see them being a major player in the market for some time; regardless of the quality of their new SSL. At least until they can build up a stronger dealer network.

hahahaha! everyone knows i have had my fill of cheer leading for a while! i was on some other forums and people are really excited about what "volvo" came up with. says they hit a home run. quote from one guy "its made by volvo so you know its good." funny how peoples opinions change when it has a familiar name on it. y is it that i dont really care to cheer lead when it says volvo on the side? this is my favorite quote so far!! "From a mechanics point of view, the loader arm looks like it will cause problems. There is a huge torsional load on the single offset arm that is not there on a double arm." what im impressed with is that volvo still offers their B series. do they sell a lot of those overseas or something?? i know there are some on the internet that have been for sale for years and still have not sold here in the US. "new 2008 model" there was one a while back with 18 hours on it, snow plow, air conditioning and all the options for like $15,000. considered buying it just for fun. i will say the volvo skid steer with the high back seat just feels awesome when you sit in it! has to be the most comfortable seating, ergonomics, floor height, etc, its like sitting in an easy chair.

There is no partnership. JCB builds them and brands them for Volvo. Volvo had nothing to do with the design or build of the machine as far as I know. Single arm guaranteed for life..... I agree Barklee....DEAD HORSE BEAT!

i thought they did away with the lifetime guarantee on the arm.

Just to have a bit of fun JCBiron; I figured you and dave would be stoked anytime JCB could be talked about given the fact that the brand hasn't done much in North America
