Im looking at a new skid steer and I'm wondering if high flow hydraulics are worth it or if low flow would be good enough. what are the pros and cons? Thanks
A modern large frame machine typically makes 22-23 gpm at 3000 to 3300 psi. A high flow system will put 36-40 gpm and 4-4500 psi. If your running attachments that require the higher flow than you need to have high flow. Such attachments are stump grinders, some snow blowers, mulchers, some rotary mowers such as Diamond and Davco, and cold planers.
Just to add to what KSSS said, high flow will also add to the resale value of the machine.
If you can afford it buy it. Def won't hurt to have the option
WHY SOME HYDRAULIC ATTACHMENT MANUFACTURER RECOMMEND ONLY STANDARD FLOW INSTEAD OF HIGH FLOW WHEN PRODUCTIVITY MATTERS
FYI bobcat hi flow is only for the aux circuit, has nothing to do with loader functions. on the extended large frame M series bobcats run higher pressures on the hyd circuits, and lower pressures on the aux circuits, hi flow or not.
It all depends on what you intend to do with the machine. If you only plan to run attachments with standard hydraulic cylinders then standard flow will be enough but if you think you're going to want to run rotary attachments then High Flow should be a consideration. As mentioned, the heavier rotary attachments work better with High Flow.
