Thanks for posting the link. I haven't finished reading yet but it is amazing how when certain people come together a company can change so much.

I read that a while back, but did not think to post it. They have some great history on that site. The Unit Rig story is kind of a David vs Goliath story in their beginnings. Nice post.

Having worked on the Unit Rig M100 and the M85 in 1968 and 1969 along side Cats 779 electric truck. The Unit Rigs had better up time but the Cats had better brakes the M100 was powered by Detroit Diesel 12V149 and M85 was powered by Detroit 16V71 the Cats were powered by the D348. The Unit Rigs used dynamic braking and the Cats oil cooled hydraulic,(much better) Units Rigs were easy to work on the 149 engine had "pot heads". Cat was the type that the mechanic needed 3 elbows it was easier to drop the engine that do most work in place. The Cats engine and generator dropped out like old VW engines from the bottom. By the way Unit Rig Electric are still around name change maybe. But no Cat Electric Trucks around they won't even talk about 779. I'm not slamming Cat they just didn't stay with the program

That's a great read, thanks for sharing that. What's really funny Stinkycat, is that Cat is the current owner of Unit Rig, and Cat has also reintroduced their own line of electric trucks. Seems it took them a while, but they decided to give it another go.
