Looking at buying a 1998 ex 300 lc and noticed when going forward or backward the final drive (or drives) make a whining sound. Its definitely not a metal to metal sound but trying to figure out how much noise is to much. I called 2 mechanics and both said they should not be noisy. I dont feel any drag and they seem to be very strong... just a louder sound than im used to. Are the hydostats on larger machines usually louder ? Thanks for any help.
Drive machine atleast 100 yards to heat oil Raise left side of machine, track motor for 5 minutes, take temperature Raide right side of machine, track motor for 5 minutes, take temperature
Thanks Mike... appreciate that.. will do. By the way thats taking temp at the outside (planetary side) of hub not inside (hydraulic side) correct ?
That is more probable but may as well do both
