Hitachi EX200LC-3 fluid change questions

One Bucket ยท 2020-03-12 20:27

This is my first post and first excavator. I should have it this weekend and i am wanting to change all the fluids but have a couple questions. On the hydraulic pump there is a small dipstick what oil does it take and how much? The swing motor there is a dipstick what oil does it take and where is the drain plug for that? The final drives what oil does it take?

Welcome to HEF One ! I don't have information on that particular model but some Hitachi's use GL5 80-90W oil in both the pump drive and swing gearboxes. Later Hitachi's switched to a 15W-40 engine oil in the pump drive gearbox. I would think in the vintage machine you have it will be the 80-90 in both. Maybe someone with experience on those particular machines has the info. it would pay to buy yourself an operator's manual.

All take gear oil except in the arctic where they take 15-40. The drain for the swing reducer is just above the flange at the bottom of the reducer. It will be above a small hole on the house and it may even have a petcock on it.It may also have a pipe plug. The pump drive only takes about one litre of gear oil and is easy to over fill.Take your time.
