Hitachi EX300LC leaking oil around turntable?

mr.kdk ยท 2013-07-22 20:13

My Hitachi EX300LC is leaking hydraulic oil from around the turntable seal. I looked underneath and do not see any oil there. Does anyone have any ideas? The swing motor has the correct amount of oil in it. Or could it be leaking below that or is it the travel motor swivel? Thanks for any help.

Usually the swivel joint as long as the swing motor seals are good. Is the swing motor gear oil between the add and full mark on the stick? Pull the drain on the bottom of the turntable and see what comes out. If hyd oil comes out good chance its the swivel. That being said I have had customers worried with same problem but it wasn't oil it was water and we drained the tub and refilled the tub with grease.

The swing motor oil level is good. I do not see a drain on the bottom? It definitely is hydraulic oil. Thanks for help.

Is there a way to determine if it is the swivel?

Underneath the machine, as you are looking up at the swivel, off to one side of the swivel, should be a little plate with two bolts. Pull those out and have something ready to catch what falls out.

If there is gear oil in the swing motor and it has the proper level then it is your swivel.

:notworthy Ezy; pull back hydraulic hoses to boom they will get in your way; remove the four large hoses top and bottom plus the two smaller one case drain and brake lines tag and plug all lines; the larger line hose ends will be tight 1,3/16''or 32mm use new oring when refitting' remove four mounting bolts plus back stop two bolts 19mm, remove hydraulic fitting from the lower side six of now lift out centre joint use a crane if you have one I uses to have a lifting adapter made up using the nut of a old hose to screw on to two of the top fitting with bolt going to lifting lug .when you have got in out place on bench back of truck remove lower cover plate and press centre out don't lose the ball bearing push it all the way out remove old seals ,fit new use lots of lube petroleum jelly or white grease on seals slide centre in to base use lots of lube to retain ballbearing in place using a large plastic hammer10lbs drive centre home refit cover plate.time for a beer, for lifting back up and in to the hole replace fitting and hoses using new orings and your all dun to next time in2000hr are time for the 2nd beer!
