hi guys just throwing this out there I have a zx 330 with a 6hk1 Isuzu engine the other day it lost power ,started missing had coolant steam coming out of the exhaust and some coolant in the oil ,its on a shear so its not working hard my general prognoses was a head gasket ,but when the engine was cold it ran as sweet as, pulled the head of ,head gasket was fine ,but we did find two leaking injector inserts, so they were replaced along with every thing else that needed doing ,engine was worked hard for a hour prior to delivery ,all was well sent it back out did four hours that day no probs ,did two hours the next day and next thing ,missing ,steam out of the exhaust and about a gallon of coolant in the sump restarted the machine twenty minutes later every thing was perfect the problem is up top ,there are no visible cracks and the symptom is intermittent so my thoughts are a split EGR cooler ,which we have just removed the coolant flow from for test purposes has any one else had this happen to them or heard of something similar
Sounds like you may have found your problem. EGR systems on diesels are a really bad idea. The diesel exhaust still has sulphur in it which rots out the cooler. All the engine manufacturers are having the same problem.
Yes I think you nailed it too, doesn’t happen as often on Isuzu’s but they do fail occasionally.
