I have a machine with a book rating of 2 x 96 lpm and it is listed as a double pump in german. its got to be a double axial pump not sure if there are dual swashplates? with two outputs one for each block segregated flow. It makes sense based on hose sizing that each circuit would be about 25gpm. and the segregated output would allow the machine to keep functions operating at same time from robbing flow from the other. the math works out to 192 lpm 52 gpm . when i do the math for horse power it rates 52 gpm at 4000 psi as requiring 121 hp. the machine is 50hp question is do they rate the gpm at 2k psi it seems like that would be about 60hp and is more inline with power of motor. but if i was operating one circut at max and then tried to operate another i would run out of horsepower. its all in german so i cant figure out everything from a translation. its just a lot of flow for so little power if i was at max relief. 280 bar or 4k most functions are more like 2600 psi on individual reliefs just curious.
All cat excavators are speced that way. The pumps will snuff the engine out in a heartbeat if allowed to go full flow at full power. The machine has hp controls built in to limit the pump flow more as the pressure goes up. This gives you faster cycle times at low pressure demand.
Get someone good to translate the German. People were killed on a German built rollercoaster in large part due to a bunch of idiots not translating the German manuals to English. What machine do you have? That would help determine how much flow you need at any given time.
