Hourly Crane Rates?

joedirt ยท 2007-12-29 05:27

Just had a couple of questions. 1) What's a competitive rate for an 8 ton boom truck with rigging per hour? 2) How do most outfits charge, port to port by the hour. 3) Is there any mileage charges to customer? 4) Any other charges? We rent boom trucks from time to time. Daily rental is around $450.00. I've done the math with all the overhead charges and generally base our hourly rate accordingly... Thanks for your comments.... I have a couple of similar questions, and am curious what mileage rates in various parts of the country are right now. Mostly the central corridor of the U.S.

I rented a boom truck with an operator yesterday. It cost me $145 an hour union operator. This is in Boston, Mass

Our 18 ton boom truck goes for $150 an hour fully rigged with operator. Time starts when it leaves the yard, stops when it shuts down back in the yard.

Same here we pay travel time to. I rent my machines out with operators the machine almost always stays on the job. We charge for lowbed move in and out. If you don't mind me asking what are you guys getting for a 320 size excavator on rental?

  5. #5Lashlander2008-02-11 10:53

We don't have a 320 size machine. Our 345 goes for $275 an hour plus fuel. If we need the breaker its an additional $100 per hour when its on the machine.

Same here, minus the fuel. I got a 5% fuel surcharge for the boom truck I rented the other day. The price of fuel is ridiculous around here.

I rent my 320B for 140.00 ph operated + mob/demob that iscost + 20%. if fuel goes up it is added with overhead and profit. With a long reach (55')boom and 1cy cleanout bucket is 195.00 ph with all the above.

Ive got a crane here in south louisiana, 35 ton grove with 100 ft boom, truck crane. Just wondering if anyone has anything similar and what was some going rates for it, and best way to advertise the service, with or without operator. We have heard that theyre going with operator for around 95/an hour.

A lot of my work is bid per job, but still do some hourly custom work on the side. Class 7 extendable knuckle boom on a LN 8000 Louisville chassis, wondering what some of you may be charging for mileage. Fuel prices have got some of these guys here operating at cost or barely break even in some kind of bidding war just to stay busy.

Thanks for the replies guys. Just wondering Lash, what all do you include with your rigging. Spreader bars, rigger, or what all else??? Thanks Joe

I work in Japan and you can rent a brand new PC200-8 or CAT320D for one month for about $1500....Try finding that rate in the US...

  14. #14Lashlander2008-02-29 02:15

The price includes all required rigging. On the boom truck we let the customer rig or if he wants we supply one. It is an added charge for the rigger though. On most boom truck jobs its pretty easy for the operator to communicate with the people doing the rigging so he can tell them what needs to be done. When you get into bigger swing cabs because of trouble with communication we sometimes make them use our rigger if there's a question of whether they know whats going on.

he's been offered 3000 a month and renter provides operator, i dont think thats very good myself , but who knows? i think that with all the yards around here alot is going by the hour , and out by houston family is making around 20,000. a month as owner/operator of 30 ton hyd. truck crane. he will be here tomorrow so we will talk more but i dont think he seems to think the offer is a very good one either

Alberta South, Canada we charge 175. an hour min. 2hrs. From the time we leave the yard to the time we get back. Our's is a 30T/100ft, 165 with jib

  17. #17cat994ca2010-01-10 19:13

3000 a month is two days work, fully rigged with an operator. Your friend better give his head a shake. He has to look at what it costs him to have that truck a month. Is he also suppling rigging or are they, insurance/liability insurance. are they or do they have a certifided operator, your friend has lots to look into before doing this. Good luck and let me know how it gose.
