Have a john deere 310 backhoe ran good till the other day when one of the people that used to work for me filled the fuel tank up with hydraulic fluid, ran for a little while then died, flushed out fuel tank and lines now will not start could it have busted the injector pump or could it have clogged the injectors. Thanks
Yes and Yes. It could have damaged the injectors. I would pull the fuel injectors and go through the procedure according to the service manual to pull the injector pump. Then take them to a reputable local rebuild shop. Have them got through the injectors and pump. Make sure to tell them what has happened. It could be an easy fix.
Yes and yes. But I'd remove the injection lines at each injector, leave them tight at the injection pump. Drain the tank, and add 5 gallons of diesel, remove the fuel return at the tank and put it in a separate container, go through the bleed procedure until you are sure you have fresh fuel through the filters, and pump, then try to crank it and see if you get fuel out of the injection lines. Actually, you can do that first, if no fuel out of the lines then the pump could be kapoot, or it could be not getting any oil. Once you have the fuel squirting out of the injector lines, plug in the block heater for an hour or so, then hook the lines back to the injectors and the return back to the tank and see if it will start. If it does, run it for half an hour to flush the oil out with new fuel and you're fine. I'm kinda surprised it died, if it was warmed up I'd think it would keep running, maybe smoke a little different and not have as much power.
Along with what Delmer says if it is relatively easy to remove the injectors I would be tempted to pull them and do the cranking over with them removed just to have it crank a bit faster with no compression. Also remove and replace any fuel filters as well.
