Hello. I have a hitachi ex300-2 farm machine that I run to build my homestead, and I almost got it stuck and cracked my thumb cylinder upon getting myself out of there. The excavator is not in good terrain to be left and I want to move it to flat/dry ground for the meantime. I’m unaware of how all the pressures and returns work in hydraulic systems, and my question is how to move the excavator without spilling any hydraulic fluid or damaging anything.. Can I just plug the hydraulic lines that run to the thumb cylinder and carry on running it?
Yes, tie back the thumb with chain and binder or ratchet strap, whatever. Remove the hoses and cap your fittings. Check your oil , make sure the level is still adequate. Good luck
Greatly appreciated, Thank you!!
