Hydraulic Sensor won’t come off CAT910M

scottyb70 · 2024-10-07 10:56

I am trying to take off the hydraulic sensor above the hydraulics on ky cat 910m but it won’t spin off the electric connector is stopping it. Any ideas? Here is a pic, I was able to loosen the nuts.

if the sensor simply unscrews from where it's installed then at first blush it appears as though the RH clamp retaining the hydraulic hose in the centre of the photo will need to be removed to create a bit of space. What sensor Part Number are you replacing.? is it the drive motor speed sensor.?

Hi, I don’t know its in the hydraulic area here is another pic

What are the colours of the 3 wires in the plug that connects to the sensor.? Blue, brown, & white by any chance.? Maybe the clue to disassembly is in the elbow into which the sensor is screwed. First I would suggest to completely remove the hydraulic hose next to the sensor in your first photo. Once you have that removed get a pair of wrenches, one on the elbow the other on the upper nut and see if the upper nut will unscrew in a downward direction. If it will then once you ha ve it loose you should be able to turn the elbow in a clockwise direction and give you more space to be able to unscrew the sensor from the elbow. When you come to reassembly orient the elbow in a different direction so that you can screw the sensor in without difficulty.

yes the upper nut was all the way down. I had to take it all the way up so I coukd loosen tge bottom nut. I think that elbow goes all the way down.

i don't think that's correct. Apart from the sensor (#9 or 9A depending if the location is top or bottom) there are two fittings in that assembly, a straight coupler #4 (the hexagon right at the bottom) and the elbow #3. #25 is an O-Ring. The sensor Part Number is 335-5321 by the way.

ok i will tighten back down the lower nut and try to bring down the upper one and take off the hydraulic line to make it easier to move the fitting and see what happens. I think the o ring is shot because it is leaking.

    it is the upper fitting

It is hard trying to get off this bolt any ideas or I might just have CAT come and fix it

Maybe try a crows foot wrench if turning using the open end of the wrench in the pic won’t work. Just a thought.

That bolt and its mate to the right need to be cracked first or you will never get them loose. Position the wrench behind the other hose as per the red line.? Not usually recommended but use the open end of the wrench to crack the bolt.? Maybe even the other hose might need to be removed.? It's hard to tell without actually being there.

Once you get the bolts lose, you can remove the 2 bolts at the back and open the clamp and remove the hose. Then the front bolts will be easy to remove.
