Just from what your describing, your problem isn't the injection pump...it's the fuel tank. It sounds like you now have a blockage in the line, that's typically what causes "half full filters". A simple burst of air from an air nozzle into the fuel feed line from tank would probably remove obstruction and get fuel flowing again, but it won't fix the debris coming from tank. I understand you can't pull the tank (part of the frame), but until you figure out a way to clean the garbage out of the tank, you'll continually have problems.

Thanks ATCO ... yuppers i did the air in tank pickup line.... it ran the rest of the day and shut off the next morning.. now it will only start with a shot of starting fluid but shuts off about 5 mins later and very rough idle........i know the loader was not properly kept up or maintance..we were tolded it was serviced before plant shutdown , i guess they said screw it ,we are losing our jobs and just did paper work on it or said yeah its good to go.....filters had no hours or dates wrote on them , which we do where i work at , so if a problem occurs you can look to see when it was last serviced ..., so we did a routine service and cut open fuel filters and wow at the dirt in them ...... when i get the time to work on it again... ill look at draining the tank ...it maybe a drain plug somewhere on tank under side... if not ill drilling a hole in tank and welding a plug in.... Thanks again Atco ill let you know what i find

most of the Perkins have a screen in the primer pump- take off Phillips screw top cover of pump Will come off with a screen underneath

Yes, OneWelder, many Perkins have a screen in the lift pump. I'm wondering if his 1964 model does?

yes it does i removed the pump monday and screen was covered and inside of pump was loaded..... but if will not primer the filters and the metal line that goes from primer pump to filters has been cut into and rubber fuel hose connects them together so i got a new pump and fuel line coming tomorrow ... wow i cant believe i left that out guess im tired

It may be Big & Ugly, but my experience with old Hyster lifts, they're built like an anvil and they'll pick up the world if you can get the forks under it. :drinkup

Wow, a Perkins with a vertical injection pump. I've only worked on two Perkins that had that configuration.

well wishes you could help me with this lol..... i blew thur fuel line and pick up line again.it ran 3 mins .... i think im going to make up a new fuel line from tank to first fuel filter and use a plastic 3 gallon tank as fuel tank .. elimate 2 things from system then if it dont run then im unhooking everyline and blowing them out ... hopefully find a blockage ......

From what you described earlier about the trashy filters, I think ultimately your going to have to clean out your tank to solve your problems. And I would for sure replace the fuel hoses after you do that. I've seen internal deterioration of the hose causing fuel restricton. But I think it's likely your tank is your biggest problem.
