30's prototype trackson traxcavator. Originally from the iron mines in northern Minnesota. Will be in good company alongside the T6 and T4. Really a neat operating piece with the steering wheel. Rear crank start through the pto. Crude but way better than a front shovel or hand shovel for smaller work of the day.
how does the steering work?
Has a linkage that clamps a band on a drum each side. The differential dose the rest. Lock one side up and you fly around. Industrial tractors had a 4 speed with independent brakes.
Very interesting piece of iron, you might call it the forerunner of the bobcat.
Ok, the steering wheel just rocks enough to tighten the brake bands. Makes sense, I was envisioning something much more complicated.
