You can give that towing company a bit of competition now! In your spare time of course!

imagine driving in reverse with a car hooked up. i made it so i can pull it out and hold it in with one pin and i made it light since i will only use it for small palm trees so i didn't need something that would be a bear for me to use so far it has handled 7-800 lbs trees with no problem. any body here have any home made setups like this anything you all think i should of done different?

Looks great to me, and I like that square tubing. Call the patent attorney!

I would add a chain from the end of the boom back to both top edges of the bucket. You have little side support now. That would keep the boom from tipping sideways if the load sways or gets unbalanced. I was looking for a picture but can not find any but we built a few for front end loaders. We used a 3" L angle across the full width bottom of the bucket with three clips sticking under the bucket so it slipped over and under the cutting edge. We welded the boom to the cross angle. We then set a 2 chains from a ring on the boom end to both sides of the top back of the bucket. Simply drove up inserting the cutting edge into the angle and with the bucket tilted ahead hooked the two chains. Tilted the bucket back a bit and was good to go. Amazing what we could pick and it had good reach.

The idea behind putting the boom base at the bottom of the bucket and supporting from the top end was coping a crane boom. Light weight and having a ton of strength. From the brace point forward your tube would be subject to bend. However you were not picking real heavy so it should be OK.
