IH TD25c Anybody have any specs on these dozers ?
They are some bog xxxx's..... about the size of one of the old d9's. This isnt in the auction were plannign to go to in Phillipsburg, is it??
Well, we found a couple near us for pretty damn cheap. There is a company going out of business and they want to dump them. They are practically giving them away. We went and looked at them but didn't fire them up because it was too cold. We will hopefully be doing that this upcoming week. We will still be attending the auction on the 22nd in hope to find some parts. There are (12) 817 blocks there.
Td25c Hi, Folks. The TD25C was not a bad dozer so long as you didn't want it to work in hard rock all the time. They were a little more robust in the back end than earlier Internationals but were just too fast for their own good in rock. For the same reason, care is needed when using them for heavy clearing. They were better suited to stockpile work or pushing scrapers. Power and weight-wise, they were a little bigger than a Cat D8H 270 hp model but nowhere near a Cat D9G and they didn't have the engineering of the Cat machines. The planetary steering had some definite pluses over the Cat clutch and brake system but it didn't pay to try to 'feather' the steering between high and low as this payed up like crazy with the brake bands Just My 0.02 cents.
By the time the C came out they were getting to be a good reliable dozer, actually the C may have had the highest hp @ 320, can't recall when the finals were beefed up either the C's or E's. If these dozers are in good operating shape they are a great buy if you require something this size. I should have bought a 25B last spring for 4K. IH had some advertising propaganda back in the day pitting a current D8 against a 25C each brushing a quarter section side by side, the 25 productivity was around 50% more the 817's are getting extremely expensive to rebuild now and if it's not a solid machine I'd probably look at others especially if this is a daily business, although sounds like theres some spare engines, you could probably make some $ just off those. I'm usually over on Redpower and we recently had a member who'd ran Cat a good portion of his career and purchased a 25C for his own use, I believe his words were "I never realized all those years what a great machine they were" he might have said superior? If your genuinely interested heres a link to ask some more questions. http://www.redpowermagazine.com/forums/index.php?
Lance,you are everywhere!!!!!!. Welcome.Ron G
Thanks for the comments hardtail. Actually I am a member of redpower, but I never have posted. I just look around. Anyways, we found out that yesterday morning somebody came in and bought everything up that they had. It sucks because my dad had his checkbook that day we looked at them, but the guy wanted to wait to it got a little wamer to fire them up and we didn't wanna buy anything we didn't hear run. He said, no problem, I'll hold them for ya. Well, I guess that a man is only as good as his word.
RonG LOL just like one of those bad hangovers from years ago, try as you might you just can shake it:cool2 some might say stepping in dog doo, just keeps following you around. Rino that sucks the least he could have done was give you first dibs, guess they're gonna fire them up now cold or not, too bad would have been some cheap big iron. These seem to be a better buy than the smaller ones due to demand and transport, everyone wants the 15's. Better luck next time, keep tuned into RP and we might find you one yet.
